The Ask:
The owner of Moku Hawaii approached us to create promotional materials for a surf competition held in September 2022. The initial request was for a custom illustration of their star team rider and WSL longboard professional, John Michael Van Hohenstein, to serve as the focal point of the event poster. Following the poster design, the client sought additional collateral to support event promotion and merchandise.

The Outcome:
We designed a bold event poster centered around a custom illustration of John Michael Van Hohenstein, incorporating the event name, date and time, and sponsor logos in a clear, balanced layout. Building on the poster design, we extended the illustration across event merchandise and promotional materials, including T-shirts, a tote bag, and social media assets—creating a cohesive visual system that reinforced the event’s identity across both physical and digital touchpoints.
