Chiara & Bob

The Ask:
Chiara and Bob were looking for custom day-of signage for their January wedding that felt personal, art-forward, and worthy of becoming keepsakes after the event. Their primary request was a custom illustrated portrait of the couple in their wedding attire that could double as a guest book, allowing friends and family to sign the surrounding frame. In addition, they needed a seating chart organized across 21 tables, incorporating custom text selections and a custom illustration of their dog, Banks, dressed in a tuxedo. Chiara shared references to vintage poster artwork to guide the overall visual direction.

Outcome:
We began with the illustrated portrait, drawing inspiration from vintage poster references to establish the color palette, typography, and overall tone. To allow both partners to provide feedback while preserving the surprise of the bride’s dress, we shared interim mockups featuring a placeholder gown for review. The final illustration depicted the couple in their wedding attire and was thoughtfully composed with negative space for guest signatures, transforming it into a lasting keepsake designed to be displayed in their home.

With the visual language established, we designed the seating chart to mirror the style of the portrait—carrying over the same color story, typography, and layout sensibilities for a cohesive look. The seating chart was organized across 21 tables with clear hierarchy and legibility, and featured a custom illustration of the couple’s dog, Banks, dressed in a tuxedo, adding a playful yet polished personal touch. Print files were sent to the couple who preferred to handle the printing on their end.
